Rain Delay
Matthew Ryan Fischer
It had rained for two days in a row, which allowed for a slight
reprieve from the violence of the gunman’s reign. Two days was nothing, but
after two weeks of violence it felt an eternity. Seven knew he had plenty of
work to do. There was the gunman. Or gunmen depending on who you asked. And there
was the mystery of who killed Nine and the promises Seven had made Gideon.
Seven had plenty to do. But his mind was elsewhere, distracted by Kira, a woman
who had moved into a downstairs apartment. He normally wasn’t distracted by
such things, but something had caught his eye and he couldn’t look away.
