Sonny on the move
Matthew Ryan Fischer
Declan returned much in the same way as he had left, with little
to no explanation. Sonny didn’t like it but he wasn’t surprised. Declan came
and went as he pleased and only shared what was necessary in the moment to
achieve whatever he was trying to achieve. Sonny knew he had secrets with
Kaylee from the beginning, and more than likely secrets from her as well.
“You want to tell us where you went? Kaylee comes here with a
warning and you disappear?”
Declan said nothing.
“Where did you go? Who did you talk to? What did you learn?”
It didn’t matter what the question was, Declan would only do what
he thought important. Declan wanted Kaylee to return to her apartment and keep communications
open with the Agent. Declan had to make preparations with his department and
warn his informants all over the city.
Tired of being left out and left behind, Sonny wondered about his
former investigations into the tattooed killers and the assassinations back in
Bandung. After the dustup at Club B, the police in Bandung had promised to send
a few officers to Jakarta to meet with Sonny and Declan. Forty-Seven and Sixty-Six
were still out there somewhere. The gunman had been quiet in recent days. And
Rama had dropped off the map. There were too many loose ends and Sonny couldn’t
tell what was related and which were incidental.
Sonny checked his emails, opened some files he hadn’t had time to
get to yet. He called the Bandung police to see where their men were. He left
messages and voicemails and waited for replies.
Sonny considered calling it a day or trying to find Declan and be
of some assistance, when he got an update from financial crimes. They had been
tracking down several of Quer’s and Amin’s associates and business dealings and
had come across a name in Jakarta – Gideon.
Sonny looked around the room and didn’t see Declan. Perhaps this
was one lead he would follow up on his own.
