The Graveyard
Matthew Ryan Fischer
Nadia chastised herself for not realizing what Sophie really was.
She had been distracted. The cat should have given it away. Strange bedfellows as
the saying goes. Still, she wasn’t happy about working with a witch.
Sophie and Selena had gone ahead. They had their plan, Nadia had
hers. She didn’t know how to fight the walking dead, but she knew enough to combat
the ghosts. She had an enchantment of her own, one that would bind a spirit to
their grave so that the ghosts couldn’t leave their burial ground. It might not
solve all their problems, but at least their enemy wouldn’t be adding to their
ranks.
Nadia heard chanting nearby. At first, she thought it was Sophie,
but the voice was different. Upon closer investigation, Nadia realized she was
too late. This woman was already summing ghosts from their slumber.
