Day 214 - La Grandia Part 8 Sons and Fathers

 Sons and Fathers
Matthew Ryan Fischer

Ace loved his son; Jinn was a gift from god. When Jinn wanted to train with him he felt a sense of pride. Years later, when Jinn wanted to follow in his footsteps, pride turned to dread and he wished he had never begun training his son in the first place. But there was no stopping his son, not when he put his mind to something. Whether it had been Ace or some other person, Jinn was going to learn to do what he wanted to do. Someday he would tell Jinn the truth about his mother, and then it would be up to Jinn to decide if they would stay father and son or not.

Ace had long considered Gideon his best friend, and he was well aware of Gideon’s proclivities and habit of producing spawns. He was never sure Gideon actually loved or even liked his children. A strange characteristic for a man who had so many. Ace wasn’t even sure he knew how many Gideon had sired. Ace felt a sense of pride watching their two sons walk into the room together. He wondered what Gideon felt.
Seven explained there were several gangs attacking the hotel. Low level rivals that had teamed up to challenge The Dragons. The bosses had to be protected, Naxis could wait and should be left to handle their own escape. Gideon refused. They were an important business partner, integral for the future of all the families. Seven suggested he get Gideon out first and volunteered to lead a mission to rescue the heads of Naxis himself. Gideon reminded Seven that he had once been an Agent and could handle himself in a gunfight. Seven looked to Ace, but Ace was no help. He and Gideon had been known as Seven and Nine for a long time and had been to war too many times to grow afraid now.
The group set out to find Junko, Yaz and The Foreigner. Gideon’s elite bodyguards followed close behind, protecting Jacob. Seven led the way with the new number Nine. Ace felt a sense of adventure he hadn’t felt in years. It felt exciting, it felt right.
Then they turned the corner and stumbled across a group from a rival gang.
